Renewable Energy Stocks - Update
J. Peter Lynch

Hydrogenics Corp. – (HYGS)
HYGS has been forming a huge base between $3.00 and $5.00 since May 2002. The stock appears to be poised to move above the $5.00 area. It has not shown great relative strength recently and this may indicate that the stock may need to consolidate in this area before moving further up. Either way, the stock should be viewed as a long-term way to participate in the Fuel Cell Industries growth.

The company has a unique plan to approach to the fuel cell business and has PLENTY of money to support and move forward operations - over 5 years of cash at the current burn rate.

HYGS is the world leader in the Fuel Cell testing business and it has projected over $100M in business in the testing area by the end of 2005. They are also working with some interesting partners: John Deere and General Motors.

In addition, they are involved in a project that we feel could be a major product in the future - a regenerative fuel cell.

A regenerative fuel cell is a device that can operate as a fuel cell and as an electrolyzer. As a result, it can provide power when needed (working as a fuel cell) or it can convert water into hydrogen, when grid electricity is cheapest (example, at night during off peak hours) and then it can be stored for later use.

This type of device would be IDEAL in a future home that is powered by the sun (Photovoltaics). The regenerative cell could use the electricity generated by the Photovoltaics during sunlight hours to produce hydrogen from water via electrolysis and then provide power at night by turning the stored hydrogen into electricity via its fuel cell function.
