To me, this should not be a controversial decision. This is a quality of life issue. In a modern society with modern medicine, people should not have to experience a slow painful death if they do not want to. I would not want anyone who chooses to not go through such a thing do so because of the government telling them they can't. If I was terminally ill and knew that the process was going to be very painful, I would much rather choose to die right away. I want to be able to make that choice. I don't want the government to make that choice for me.
Why is it ok for the government to choose who they are going to kill with captial punishment but it is wrong for me to decide when I want to die if I knew I was dying of a painful disease? Where is the humanity in that?
