I recently bought a 'memory foam' mattress pad for my daughter's very uncomfortable bed. I thought it would be a lot cheaper than buying a whole mattress. I brought it home and, although it was very comfortable, it had a very strong odor emitting from it even when it was covered with a mattress cover and sheets. I've had it for about 4 weeks and it still smells. I read the materials used and it says that it is made from all new polyurethane foam.

I briefly searched the net and so far have only found problems from factory workers exposure. What about consumer exposure. Is this product safe, especially for children?

Anyone have any clues?
