HR 2622 is a proposed new bill which would prohibit the interstate transport of horses for the purpose of slaughter or horse flesh intended for human consumption.
Recently there has been some debate over the bill and a number of vocal groups oppose it. Many equine enthusiasts feel that this bill may be the long awaited catalyst to end the slaughter of horses across the country and are fearful that the bill may be killed. In support of this bill, a list of names is being compiled to urge Washington to pass it. Many feel that an opportunity of this magnitude to legislate against horse slaughter may not be available again.
