Attendees at the open house saw close up a utility interconnect PV system and learned
about PV programs and incentives created as part of California’s deregulated utility
market. Under Assembly Bill 1890 and Senate Bill 90, the $3/Watt buy-down is available to
people installing PV systems living in investor owned utility (IOU) service areas.
IOU’s include Southern California Edison, San Diego Gas & Electric and Pacific
Gas & Electric. The buy-down can reduce system cost up to 50%. The system is net
metered which means energy not used will be “sold back” or credited to the
homeowner at full value. “
